Around the beginning of the year everyone is determined to get healthy, be active and live a greener lifestyle. January doesn’t really motivate me personally. My motivation comes as soon as the sun is shining brighter and my teeth stop chattering – That’s when my life has a meaning again – ok, maybe that’s too dramatic but you get it.
Obviously, you can enjoy frozen and dehydrated fruits all year around but when spring comes around there are lots of fresh fruits that inspire me to make juice or try out different smoothie recipes.
This year I found the perfect solution in order to prepare a smoothie daily, quickly and without the mess and time consumption when peeling and cutting fruits in small pieces. This method is lazy-proof!
All you need is a freezer, some freezer bags, lots of fruits and a chill Saturday morning. I usually freeze fruits anyway, especially bananas for “nicecream”.
I peeled and cut all the fruit I like to have in my smoothies, distributed them into plastic freezer bags and placed them in the freezer. This way, you only need to get them out of the freezer, empty the bag in your blender. Add a bit of water or milk and your morning smoothie is ready in no-time. The best part is that you can keep the fruits in the freezer for up to 3 months. I usually like to prepare the fruits one week in advance.
The blender I used blends your smoothie directly inside a bottle, then you just turn it upside down and enjoy it.
These are the smoothie combinations I made today. I don’t really follow a specific recipe, I like to use what I have.
- The red juice: strawberries, raspberries, blackberries, half a banana
- The green juice: apple, half a banana, a bit of spinach
- The yellow juice: mango, apple, half a banana
